Aigle Royal announces the commencement of construction of stage 2 of The Saleyard, a cutting edge bulky-goods retail centre strategically anchored by Western Australia’s largest Bunnings.
City of Swan councillor Rashelle Predovnik said the Midland Saleyards was an iconic site in Midland and the sod turning event marked a major milestone for project.
“Here, you have a project that generates jobs, creates a retail hub and draws visitors to the area – all while honouring our local history.”
“The new development continues to make this iconic site a key part of our local economy, particularly with WA’s largest Bunnings store as an anchor tenant.”
“Midland is at the heart of the City of Swan, and the interest that’s being shown in this project is another clear sign that it’s future is very bright.”
With 50% of retail leasing space already secured, the highly anticipated Stage 2 development is located on the southeast corner of Clayton Street and Lloyd Street in Midland, redefining the retail landscape in the region.
Aigle Royal has appointed Hoskins Contracting, a Western Australian owned and operated construction business with a decade of experience, as the trusted contractor to deliver the construction of stage 2 of The Saleyard.
Stage 2 of The Saleyard will be a significant $17.4 million development that is scheduled to commence August 2023. The project is planned to achieve practical completion by June 2024.
Encompassing a total area of 6,380m² of bulky-goods across four tenancies in Building 7 and 420m² of food-and-beverage space spanning across four tenancies in Building 8, stage 2 of The Saleyard promises to be an exciting addition to the existing retail environment.
“The design of Building 8 pays homage to the site’s industrial heritage as The Saleyard’s ‘canteen,’ incorporating unique elements such as a sawtooth canopy and the use of salvaged timber from its livestock holding days,” shared Andre Van Der Westhuizen, Senior Development Manager.
The development will also feature a play area and public piazza with built-up planters and shaded seating, providing a restful and inviting space for both shoppers and workers. These additions will complement the existing array of retail options, childcare centre, and service station within The Saleyard.
“Aigle Royal is dedicated to creating an unparalleled retail experience for both shoppers and retailers. We’re excited to roll out this next stage including the addition of a food & beverage space as The Saleyard will soon emerge as one of the largest homemaker centres in Western Australia, offering a wide range of retail choices and fostering a vibrant shopping atmosphere,” said Brad Brashaw, CEO of Aigle Royal.
The commencement of construction for Stage 2 marks a significant milestone in Aigle Royal’s journey and sets the stage for the realization of a dynamic and customer-centric retail destination at The Saleyard.
